1st-Aug-2007 08:57 pm - membership and posting re-opened

Membership and posting to the community are once again open, now that DH has been out for a bit. As a reminder, however - since a few people have not yet finished the book, please keep any DH spoilers inside an lj cut for the time being.
6th-Jun-2007 09:45 pm - Spoiler Policy
piled books by kathianta
Do not post any spoilers for book 7 outside of an lj cut between now and September 30.

Before you post anything to the community, double check to make certain there are no spoilers in your title, summary, lj cut text, icon, or mood.

If your story or art contains spoilers, you must warn for them in the header.

Since there's already been a troll posting alleged (though unconvincing) spoilers in other LJ communities, I am switching the community to moderated membership until a few days after the release of book 7. (New members are still welcome, of course, and I will process requests to join the community as quickly as possible.) I will also be moderating posting to the community for a few days before and after the release.

I trust that all of you will be courteous to other readers of the community and by keeping any spoilers hidden and clearly warning for them. However, as always with respect to the web and impending HP releases, caveat lector. If you have any questions, feel free to comment or e-mail me at musigneus at gmail.com.

ETA: Posting to the comm is now moderated pending the release of DH.
3rd-Jun-2007 10:33 pm - Challenge #19: Klimt
piled books by kathianta
Challenge #19: Klimt

Our next challenge comes from a suggestion by [info]undunoops, who told me she could think of several HP drawings in the style of Klimt. Another artist, [info]peppermint_art, drew a Klimt-inspired Snape. Given that two artists find Klimt inspirational, I hope that some of you will find inspiration as well!

So for this challenge, use any work by Gustav Klimt as inspiration to write or draw something HP-related. As usual, slash, het, and gen are all welcome. Feel free to post your response whenever you finish it. Non-challenge stories, poetry, or art based on classic literature or art are always welcome as well, and remember that any classic work of literature or art from any country around the world is eligible.

Have a suggestion for a future challenge? Leave a comment in the Suggestion Box.

Title: Anthony in Wonderland, part 1/2: "Well, I Never!"
Author: [info]amor_remanet
Characters: Cheshire Cat!Terry Boot/Alice!Anthony Goldstein, Caterpillar!Luna
Rating: PG/PG-13
Based On/Borrowing From: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll.
Warnings: First, slash. Luna smokes a hookah, Terry shamelessly hits on Anthony, it's either total crackfic or very nearly total crackfic (depends on your perspective), and the narrative voice is naturally very silly.
Word Count: ~2,080
Summary: "Tough luck, honey," the cat-boy replied with a shrug, "we're all mad here."
A/N: written for [info]20_firstkisses. I wasn't sure whether to post this here or to [info]hp_fairytales, but Alice is, technically, not a fairy tale, so I went with this comm instead,

“Curiouser and curiouser,” Anthony whispered to himself as he walked along the wooded path before him.

Title: The Hounding of the Baskervilles
For: [info]almost_clara, for [info]snupin_santa 2006. She requested "a ripping yarn, please, suitable for reading by the fire, with the rain lashing the windows and a plate of hot, buttered teacakes to hand. . .think Hound of the Baskervilles, the Great Grimpen Mire." She also indicated that "vigorous/sparkly/outspoken/awkward Tonks/Black/McGonagall/house elves/squid" would not be unwelcome. Originally posted at [info]lupin_snape and cross-posted to my own journal.
Borrowings and allusions: J. K. Rowling, Arthur Conan Doyle, A. A. Milne, Dorothy L. Sayers, Monty Python, Jane Austen, P. G. Wodehouse, Terry Pratchett, John Fletcher, [info]busaikko, and [info]almost_clara herself. The resemblance to [info]almost_clara's list of interests is not coincidental (you have no idea how near I was to committing Luna/Yoda).
Summary: Sinister games are afoot in Devon. Can Snape, Lupin, and Tonks detect who's playing before it's too late?
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Non-graphic hints/mentions of suicide, incest, adultery, and cross-generational intimate relations
Total wordcount: 18,500+

The entire wizarding world, with the exception of Dumbledore, has no knowledge of Harry Potter's existence. When Harry turns twelve, he finally comes into contact with Hogwarts and the wizarding world. However, he is left with an unfavorable impression and decides to return home.

On his way home, he encounters a stranded Snape in the middle of the Sahara desert. "Please sir," asks Harry, "draw me an owl…" Snape finds himself staring into the face of his worst enemy. He then suspects that Harry is a hallucination created by his wormwood and nutmeg tea.
