Apologies for the down time. I was informed yesterday that skyehawke.com sites had been infected by a virus.
Our host's IT Security and Support worked to identify the infection and how it had occurred and the past twelve hours have been spent resetting passwords (admitted six of those twelve hours was spent verifying identity as the process of changing a secured server account password is a little more complicated than expected!) and tightening security.
The archive, forums and skyehawke.com domains as a whole will never automatically trigger a download onto our users computers. The domain as a whole does not host advertising banners for commercial entities or pop up banner advertising.
If you experience any odd or suspicious behaviour (i.e. accessing any of the skyehawke sites has your browser asking to download anti-virus software, a pop up banner advertising something appear when you click a link) and you believe it is caused by the site please report it to the administration as a matter of priority.
With thanks to Julie and members of the "A Year Like None Other" mailing list whose fast thinking in reporting suspicious behaviour helped safe-guard the security of the site and our users' computers.

November's theme at A Long Expected Contest is A Little Night Music.It seems that all of the races of Middle earth were inspired by music. Hopefully it will inspire your muses as well! Poetry or songs are welcome as much as a story that has the theme of music.It does not have to be based on documented events in the book and the words in the theme do not have to be included in the fiction.

'Tis the season and VOLA is hosting a holiday-themed prompt table:We have put together a list of 69 holiday (Christmas and New Year) prompts for you to play with, manipulate, and molest any way you see fit. There's no signing up, no choosing a pairing (though at least one person must be tied to LOTR in some way), and no deadlines. No set posting schedule means that you can post at your leisure. Drabbles, ficlets, or complete stories are acceptable. You can even use several prompts in one ficlet. The sky is the limit this year!

For this month's challenge, we ask our writers to consider what inspires their characters to act and create. The Silmarillion is full of creative geniuses and heroes alike. What drove them to the deeds that shaped the history of the early ages of Arda? Perhaps it was a person: a spouse, a sibling, a teacher. Or maybe it was an event that allowed them to realize their potential to influence the course of history. Or maybe it was something darker: jealousy, lust, or a desire for power.
