Hello, lovelies!
Just a quick reminder to those who are still waiting to join us that you need to find a way to confirm that you are of age to join this adult community. There are still a few people awaiting confirmation of their membership, and that is what the holdup is. Those of you who don't want to specify your age publicly in your LJ, drop us a note here please, confirming that you're over 18. Of course, if you're already a member, Eeyore has confirmed your age, and you can ignore this post.
All comments in this thread will be screened so that no one will have access to any delicate information. |

| Opinions Needed |

Okay, so it has officially been a week since ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif) hp_mentoring was founded, and the response has been enough to make me all teary-eyed at the amount of people who are willing to help. I truly feel this will make a world of difference in the fandom.
That being said, I'm having a bit of difficulty over how to get everyone matched up. Not because the mentors and mentees have radically different writing styles or anything, but because I can't decide if we should work in small groups (2 mentors, 3-4 mentees or vice versa) or if it should be a one on one relationship.
Please let me know what you think. If there's a pretty even split, we may go both ways. Have some people in pairs and some in small groups.
Also, if you have not joined the comm but wish to be a mentor or mentee, please join. I will be setting up different groups for post locking purposes. If anyone knows how to make a comm friends only, that'd be a huge help.
If you joined and haven't received confirmation yet, I may need you to post here with your age. I will not approve anyone unless I know you're 18 or older.
Thanks everyone! Hopefully we'll all be hard at work with each other in the next day or two.

ETA: A few quick questions to help me out. What ship do you write, if any; are there things you enjoy writing that others may not enjoy reading, like angst, or character death, or squicks in general? Do you write het, slash, or gen? Anything you can think of that will make it easier to find a mentor match for you would be wonderful.

What I'm looking for:
A.) Readers/Authors who've been in fandom for a while. At least a year? If this is a bad timeframe, let me know.
B.) Readers/Authors who feel relatively sure of their own skills as a beta. The new authors will be looking for more than a spell/grammar check. We'll need to provide feedback on things like flow, characterization, pacing, that sort of thing. (Yeah, I'm so up on those concepts, eh?)
C.) Readers/Authors who really have the time to help a newbie. Remember how much handholding you needed early in your fandom career? They'll need the same. An established friend is always helpful.
Thanks guys. This will go a long way to making the fandom better, I'm sure.
